South Africa head into lunch on day three of the third Test against the West Indies at 313-5, just 16 runs behind the tourists' first-innings total in Cape Town.
AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla returned to the crease this morning, but the latter added little to his overnight score before edging a Jason Holder delivery behind to Denesh Ramdin shortly after play resumed.
Temba Bavuma's stay in the middle was short-lived as he added just 15 runs before being sent back to the pavilion by Shannon Gabriel.
However, De Villiers kept the runs coming for the hosts and left the field for the interval just 16 runs short of a century, while Stiaan van Zyl reached an unbeaten eight before the break.
South Africa have a 1-0 lead in the series after winning the opening Test and drawing the rain-affected second.
