Bangladesh have had the better of South Africa on day one of the first Test in Chittagong.
The tourists were bowled out for 248 before the home side made it to seven without loss at the close of play.
South Africa reached 104-1 at lunch as Stiaan van Zyl was dismissed for 34 by Mahmudullah.
The Proteas lost two more wickets during the afternoon session, with Dean Elgar (47) and Faf du Plessis (48) both going to leave South Africa on 165-3.
It was after tea that the problems really started for the visitors as Hashim Amla (13), JP Duminy (duck) and Quinton de Kock (duck) all went in the same over as South Africa found themselves on 173-6.
Vernon Philander and Temba Bavuma helped to steady the South Africans with some dogged batting, but their resistance ended when Philander was dismissed for 24. Simon Harmer (nine), Dale Steyn (two) and Bavuma (54) were all then beaten with the ball to cap a difficult few hours at the crease for their side.
Tamim Iqbal (one not out) and Imrul Kayes (five not out) negotiated two overs at the end of play to cap a solid day for Bangladesh.
