Mahela Jayawardene strikes another century as Sri Lanka close day one of the second Test on 238-6.

Sri Lanka have ended day one of the second Test against England with a score of 238-6 in Colombo.

The hosts won the toss and elected to bat as they went about trying to win the two-match series.

However, their decision to open the batting looked to be a poor one when England bowler James Anderson claimed the early wickets of Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kumara Sangakkara and Lahiru Thirimanne with just 30 runs on the board.

This brought captain Mahela Jayawardene to the crease and just as he did in the first Test, the 34-year-old went on to claim a century.

His innings was brought to end by spin-bowler Graeme Swann, who trapped Jayawardene lbw for 105 runs.

Tim Bresnan and Steven Finn claimed late wickets for England as Sri Lanka head into day two with four wickets intact.
