Mahela Jayawardene scored a half-century for Sri Lanka as the tourists reached 169-4 at tea on the first day of their third Test match against Australia in Sydney.
The 35-year-old ended his innings on 72 runs when he was caught out by Michael Clarke off a delivery from Mitchell Starc.
Sri Lanka, who resumed the second session of the day on 80-2, lost Thilan Samaraweera soon after, as he was trapped lbw by Peter Siddle.
Lahiru Thirimanne is currently unbeaten on 37 runs, while Angelo Mathews has yet to score.
