Many of Kevin Pietersen's Surrey teammates reportedly expect that the batsman may be playing his last game for the county.
Earlier today, Surrey were bowled out by Leicestershire at The Oval for 557 runs, 355 of which were contributed by the 34-year-old.
However, having been informed last night by director of cricket Andrew Strauss that he had no chance of returning to the England Test side this summer, Pietersen may now decide to end his stint in the County Championship.
That is the belief of much of the Surrey dressing room, according to the London Evening Standard, which has suggested that Pietersen will hold discussions about his future with club officials in the near future.
Pietersen is expected to head to the Indian Premier League to play for the Sunrisers Hyderabad later this week and he is also contracted to the St Lucia Zouks in the Caribbean Premier League, which gets underway next month.
The right-hander's Surrey wages go to charity and should he decide to move on, there would be no breach of contract.
