Australia lead the West Indies by 460 runs after four batsmen score centuries during the first innings of the second Test in Melbourne.

On the opening day Joe Burns and Usman Khawaja did the damage with three figures, while on day two it was captain Steve Smith and Adam Voges that reached the landmark.

Returning to the crease on 345-3, Smith made 134 off 177 deliveries and his partner Voges scored 106 from 166 balls before the hosts declared on a score of 551-3.

In reply, the touring West Indies lost six wickets, none of whom were able to score more than 30 runs.

Jermaine Blackwood top-scored with 28, with the team only able to put 96 runs on the board before the close of play.

The Windies will return at the MCG on day three 460 runs adrift of their opponents.
