West Indies reach 6-1 at the end of the first day of the second Test against New Zealand, having bowled the tourists out for 221.

The West Indies have finished the first day of their second Test against New Zealand 215 runs behind the tourists in Port of Spain.

The Black Caps made a positive start to the day, but the wickets began to tumble after lunch as the West Indies attack dominated the afternoon.

Opener Tom Latham was dismissed 18 runs short of a ton, but was the only batsman to pass the 50 mark.

Brendan McCullum was trapped lbw in the first over after tea, before BJ Watling and Ish Sodhi were removed for ducks.

Jerome Taylor was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts, finishing the innings with 4-34 while Sulieman Benn had 3-73 as New Zealand were bowled out for 221 shortly before the close of play.

The West Indies had to face seven overs before the end of the day, with Chris Gayle and Kraigg Brathwaite looking to see out the remaining deliveries.

However, Trent Boult managed to remove Gayle's off-stump after less than three overs, sending him back to the pavilion with just one run.

Benn came to the crease as nightwatchman and was able to make it to the end of the day as the West Indies reached 6-1.
