The West Indies have moved closer to victory after taking the crucial wickets of Ross Taylor and Hamish Rutherford before tea on day four of the second Test in Port of Spain.

Having reduced the Kiwis to 129-4 at lunch, Shannon Gabriel then managed to find the edge of Taylor's bat in the first hour of the afternoon session to leave the tourists on 153-5, needing 239 runs just to put the hosts in again.

BJ Watling (18 not out) tried to give New Zealand some hope of saving the game with a belligerent innings and when Hamish Rutherford, moved down the order after suffering with illness, helped him occupy the crease, the Windies looked like they may be frustrated.

However, Rutherford was trapped lbw by Jerome Taylor late in the session and the Kiwis went in at tea still trailing by 58.

New Zealand won the first Test in Jamaica last week, only their second victory in the Caribbean.
