New Zealand have beaten England to the gold medal in the final of the men's team sprint at the Commonwealth Games in Australia.
The Kiwis had earlier set a new Games record en route to the final, making it a tough ask for the English trio of Ryan Owens, Philip Hindes and Joseph Truman.
England found themselves 0.207s behind after the first 250m and, although they did claw back some of the deficit in the middle period, NZ powered through to finish 0.67s ahead with a time of 42.877s.
Meanwhile, in the battle for bronze, Australia edged out Canada by 1.298s in a time of 43.645s.
England end the first day of cycling action at the Anna Meares Velodrome having taken a gold, two silvers and a bronze.
