Former Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong tells his fans to not cry for him after he was stripped of his successes.

Former multiple Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong has told his fans to not cry for him after he was stripped of the seven victories.

The United States Anti-Doping Agency made the decision on Friday after Armstrong said he would not contest any further doping charges.

The Texan made his first public appearance since the news and was in a buoyant mood.

"Nobody needs to cry for me, I'm going to be great," said the 40-year-old.

"I have five great kids and a wonderful lady in my life. My foundation is unaffected by all the noise out there.

"I think people understand that we've got a lot of stuff to do going forward. That's what I'm focused on and I think people are supportive of that. It's great to be out here."

The International Cycling Union have demanded USADA hand over its evidence before giving any further comment on potential sanctions they can impose themselves.
