International Cycling Union president Brian Cooksen has warned that the sport should be prepared for some "uncomfortable reading" when a report into doping is published.

Cooksen commissioned an independent panel to investigate the issue last year, and the report could be released next week.

Cooksen told BBC Sport: "When you open a can of worms, you find a lot of worms."

He added: "There'll be a lot of uncomfortable reading. I think we should all prepare ourselves for that."

The sport was rocked by the Lance Armstrong drug scandal in 2013.
