Great Britain ended day two of the Track World Championships with two more medals to their name in the men's and women's team pursuit events, including a gold for the men's team.

GB had scooped a trio of bronze medals on day one in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and were guaranteed at least a silver when the men's team pursuit gold medal race against defending champions Italy commenced.

The team of Ethan Hayter, Oliver Wood, Ethan Vernon and Daniel Bigham stunned the former world champions to take the gold medal with a time of 3:45.829, as Italy settled for silver with 3:46.033, while Denmark defeated Australia in the bronze medal race.

The final race of the day was an identical battle for gold in the women's team pursuit between Italy and Great Britain, but Neah Evans, Anna Morris, Katie Archibald and Josie Knight could not replicate the men's success.

Italy comfortably took the world title with a time of 4:09.760, as GB scooped the silver after finishing with 4:11.369 on the clock. Another fourth-placed finish would befall Australia in that event too, as France won their bronze medal contest by over three seconds.

Elsewhere on day two, Sophie Lewis came in sixth in the women's elimination race, where the world title went to Lotte Kopecky of Belgium, and Jack Carlin finished ninth in the men's kierin as Olympic bronze medallist Harrie Lavreysen won his third successive gold for the Netherlands.

Finally, Rhys Britton ended up in 14th place in the men's scratch race, where Canada's 2003-born rider Dylan Bibic became world champion. body check tags ::
