Geraint Thomas has admitted that he did not expect Great Britain's men's pursuit team to break the world record at the Track Cycling World Championships in Melbourne earlier today.
Thomas was part of a squad that also included Ed Clancy, Steven Burke and Pete Kennaugh, who recorded a time of 3m 53.295s.
"I didn't think we'd ride that time," said Thomas. "I am surprised that we broke the world record.
"It was only in the last few days that we thought 'we're going to get close to this'. It's a great day."
Thomas was part of the Olympic-winning team in 2008.
