Neil Fachie has admitted that it felt like a dream to win the Para-sport 1,000m tandem time trial in front of the Scottish supporters on Friday.
Pilot Craig MacLean joined Fachie to secure the title in the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, and the latter believes that gold is a fair reward for the work done in preparation for the Commonwealth Games.
"We've worked really hard for this and that ride was the most painful experience of either of our lives I think," Fachie said. "So I think we deserve this medal and we want to celebrate it with the crowd because they've been fantastic.
"We've both stood on top of the podium many a time but you know, obviously, to do it for Scotland in Scotland is something most athletes can only dream of so it was a nice moment that we'll never forget."
Australia finishes second in the event, with Wales claiming third.
