The fallout from the coronavirus pandemic continued on Wednesday.

Here, the PA news agency recaps the day’s biggest developments.

11.05am – British Cycling announced it will place one third of its staff on furlough and members of the governing body’s leadership team will be subject to a 10 per cent pay cut for at least the next two months.

2.15pm – The World Athletics Championships were rescheduled for July 14-24 in 2022, narrowly avoiding a clash with the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The World Championships in Oregon were originally due to take place in August next year, but have been moved due to the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics.

3.00pm – Premiership Rugby said it is determined to complete the Gallagher Premiership season but insists it will not restart until it is safe to do so.

3.55pm – County cricketers will take “maximum reductions” in their salaries for April and May during the coronavirus crisis while they have agreed to waive £1million in prize money this year. A collective player agreement thrashed out between the Professional Cricketers’ Association, the England and Wales Cricket Board and the 18 first-class counties was announced which also means players will be furloughed if asked by their clubs.

5:43pm – Wales’ top rugby stars are set for a 25 per cent salary reduction for three months from April 1. 6.45pm – Real Madrid announced that players and coaching staff have taken a voluntary pay cut. The sacrifice of 10 to 20 per cent will help avoid “traumatic measures” for the rest of the club’s non-footballing staff during the coronavirus pandemic.

9.00pm – Premier League stars join forces to create an initiative called #PlayersTogether, which partners with NHS Charities Together (NHSCT) in the hope to raise funds for NHS charities during the coronavirus pandemic.
