Neither Emma Pooley nor Lizzie Armitstead managed to claim a medal during the women's time trial event at the London Olympics this afternoon.
Pooley, who for a time sat in a silver medal position, finished the race sixth with a time of 38 minutes and 37 seconds, while fellow Brit Armitstead came 10th having completed the course in 39 minutes and 26 seconds.
The eventual winner was defending champion Kristin Armstrong, who was last to set off. The American recorded a time of 37 minutes and 34 seconds, which was some 24 seconds better off than Germany's Judith Arndt in second.
Russia's Olga Zabelinskaya rounded off the top three.
