Geraint Thomas has claimed that a podium finish is not on his mind after he climbed to fifth in the general classification of the Tour de France on Tuesday.

The Welshman followed Team Sky teammates Chris Froome and Richie Porte home in stage 10 with a sixth-place finish, but after helping the former take a firm grip on the race, Thomas insists that he is not setting targets for himself.

"It's still a long way to go," he told Sky Sports News. "If days like today keep happening, that would be fantastic. I will just keep doing my job for Froomey and hopefully I will keep feeling good and I will still be up there.

"But I'm not thinking about that. I will only think about that maybe on Alpe d'Huez on the penultimate day, but so far, so good."

Froome currently holds a lead of two minutes and 52 seconds at the top of the standings after his win on the first mountain stage.
