Sir Bradley Wiggins hints at Tour de France leadership

Sir Bradley Wiggins suggests that he will try to win the Tour de France for a second time this year.

Team Sky's Sir Bradley Wiggins has refused to rule out the possibility of him trying to win this year's Tour de France.

It had been expected that Wiggins's teammate Chris Froome would lead their side's challenge at the three-week event.

However, Wiggins has suggested that a decision as to who will be Team Sky's main rider may not be made until the Tour has commenced.

"All being well, it may be that we both end up joint-leaders for that first week, until the racing decides [who will lead from then on]," Wiggins told Sky Sports News. "Without racing against each other when we hit the mountains or whatever, the racing then decides naturally who the leader becomes.

"That may be that we both stay in contention, and then Chris wins a mountain stage and takes the yellow jersey, in which case there is a natural hierarchy there. Then I try to finish second, as he did last year.

"That is in an ideal scenario. That may not happen. There may be a clear-cut leader before we even get there. I could crash in training tomorrow."

Wiggins became the first British rider to win the Tour last year.
