Gary Anderson has revealed that his final preparations ahead of the start of the defence of his world title had been "terrible".

Anderson eased to a 3-0 win over Andy Boulton on Thursday night, but the Scot has revealed that he was desperate not to suffer an early exit from the tournament that he won 12 months ago.

The 44-year-old told PDC.TV: "All I wanted to do was get through the first round and I did that despite the nerves. It's been terrible the last couple of days anticipating something I've never experienced before.

"I didn't want to go out in the first round after winning the trophy last year but I don't have to worry about that, I'm through and I'm here to win."

Anderson will play Northern Ireland's Daryl Gurney in the last 32 on Boxing Day.
