Gary Anderson has kick-started what had been a dismal Premier League campaign with victory on week six in Nottingham.
The Scot went into Thursday's event as the only player not to reach one of the previous five finals of the 2022 tournament, but the two-time champion deservedly prevailed on this occasion.
After defeating Jonny Clayton and Peter Wright, Anderson was at his best in the final against Michael Smith, eventually running out a 6-4 victor.
Anderson hit five 180s and hit nearly half of his double attempts to edge out Smith, who loses in the final for the second successive week.
Gerwyn Price, nursing an injured hand, had been on course to reach the final, but Smith rallied back from a 4-0 deficit by recording six legs in a row.
Earlier in the night, the Welshman had edged out last week's winner Michael van Gerwen in the quarter-final by a 6-4 scoreline. body check tags ::
