Gerwyn Price has returned to form with victory on Week Two of the Premier League in Cardiff on Thursday night.

The home favourite was below par on the opening week in Belfast, but the former world number one impressed in defeating Chris Dobey, Michael van Gerwen and Nathan Aspinall.

Price's opening two victories came in last-leg deciders, the triumph over Dobey coming courtesy of a 12-darter with throw and the success against Van Gerwen only occurring after the Dutchman had missed two match darts.

Faced with Aspinall in the final, the Welshman was arguably the underdog with his opponent having averaged 105 in overcoming Peter Wright and Michael Smith.

However, Aspinall saved his worst performance for the showpiece, a slow start gifting Price the momentum, and it proved to be a relatively one-sided final.

At 5-1 down, Aspinall reeled off two legs in succession to remain in the contest, but the English thrower could not make it three on the bounce as Price prevailed by a 6-3 scoreline, averaging in excess of 97.

As many as four players now sit in joint first in the table, with Dobey's victory last week and a runner-up and semi-final finish for Van Gerwen and Aspinall keeping them level with Price.

Wright and Jonny Clayton are both at the bottom of the standings having lost in the quarter-finals on both nights. body check tags ::
