Luke Humphries has remained on course to retain his World Championship crown with a 4-0 victory over Nick Kenny in the third round.

The top seed is scheduled to face Luke Littler in the semi-finals should both players progress that far, and he was in unstoppable form on Friday night.

Although Kenny averaged 92.43 and hit four of his seven double attempts, the Welshman was no match for Humphries who averaged 99.13.

Aside from the first set, Humphries averaged in excess of 100 in every set, the highlight of the match being a 145 checkout in the penultimate leg.

Two-time world champion Peter Wright is next up in the last 16 after the Scot rolled back the years to record a 4-2 win over Jermaine Wattimena.

Despite being hindered by a chest infection, Wright averaged 96.19 and hit 10 180s in an impressive victory over the 2024 European Championship runner-up.

Battling to move back into the world's top 10, the 17th seed is up to 13th place in the provisional PDC Order of Merit with 10 more last-32 matches to come.

Price denies Cullen in epic

Gerwyn Price set up an all-Welsh showdown with Jonny Clayton after coming through a last-leg decider against Joe Cullen after an epic encounter.

At one point, Price appeared well on course for a whitewash win after handling the big moments better during the opening three sets.

However, Cullen came roaring back to level the contest at 3-3 before proceeding to miss a match dart in the fourth leg of the decider.

After Price had also missed three darts to win, Cullen incredibly saved the match with a 170 checkout in the 10th leg of the seventh set, forcing a sudden-death leg.

Nevertheless, Cullen could only leave 143 after 15 darts, allowing Price to capitalise and guarantee that there will be at least one Welshman in the quarter-finals. body check tags ::
