Earlier in the day, Dave Chisnall became the latest player to test positive for coronavirus, handing a bye to opponent Luke Humphries.

The two seeds during the afternoon session - Jose De Sousa and Nathan Aspinall - both performed below their best in losing out to Alan Soutar and Callan Rydz respectively.

While Soutar rallied to edge out a below-par De Sousa by a 4-3 scoreline, Rydz stormed to a 4-0 triumph over Aspinall.
