Gerwyn Price has been forced to come from behind to reach the PDC World Championship third round, the defending champion recording a 3-1 victory over Ritchie Edhouse.
The top seed had earlier witnessed Edhouse edge out Peter Hudson to book a spot on the main event on day one at the Alexandra Palace.
That extra game time helped Edhouse in the first set, which he took without losing a leg, but Price took out a sublime 86 to win the decider in the second set.
Edhouse was in charge of set three, opening up a 2-0 lead, but Price roared back before edging in front with a 130 checkout, potentially one of the most important shots that he has taken out all year.
Remarkably, another 130 checkout arrived two legs later, and it allowed Price to control the fourth set and book his spot in the last 32.
Earlier in the evening, Adrian Lewis came through a high-quality encounter to beat Canadian Matt Campbell 3-1, setting up a last-64 showdown with two-time champion Gary Anderson.
Ricky Evans also posted a 3-0 triumph over Indian representative Nitan Kumar to reach the second round, the Englishman winning by a 3-0 scoreline. body check tags ::
