Peter Wright has set up a World Championship final with Michael Smith after producing a stunning performance to see off Gary Anderson by a 6-4 scoreline.

The showdown between the two Scots featured an astonishing 39 180s, Wright setting a new World Championship record with 24 of them and ending an absorbing contest with an average of 104.38.

Wright stormed into a 3-0 lead, holding his nerve to fend off Anderson who was also producing his best darts of the tournament, but Anderson got back into the match at 3-2.

During the sixth, Wright found a different gear, and the 2020 winner missed double 12 for a nine-darter as he opened up a 5-3 margin.

To his credit, Anderson continued to battle hard, averaging 100 in taking the ninth, but Wright hit a remarkable five 180s in the 10th, repelling Anderson's own 110.53 average during that five-leg period to wrap up victory with a 116 checkout.

In the first match of the night, Smith backed up his performance against Gerwyn Price on Saturday with another dominant display versus Wade.

Smith took five of the first six sets, the only one that he lost being down to two missed doubles and a 121 checkout from Wade, but his opponent reduced the scoreline to 5-3 with two composed sets of his own as Smith wilted slightly.

Nevertheless, Smith was back to near his best in the ninth, eventually wrapping up the match with a 100.98 average and 16 180s. body check tags ::
