Phil Taylor aims for improvement

Phil Taylor admits that he needs to improve if he wants to keep pace with the emerging stars in the sport.

Phil Taylor has revealed that he will continue to change his darts as he bids to win the Premier League title for a seventh time.

The 16-time world champion has endured a mixed campaign, suffering four defeats in his 15 league games, and the Englishman has insisted that he will continue to tinker with his set-up until he gets it right.

The 52-year-old told PDC.TV: "I'm always trying to improve. I made improvements again last week by changing my stems, and that's improved my game. I do change a lot but I try different things weekly and nine out of 10 don't work - but this one is working.

"I experiment and it's about trying to improve and get better, like a motor racing team or a footballer would. You've got to get everything right, even as far as having the right shoes.

"It's like a photographer, and if another new lens comes out he'll go out and get that - that's what you do. You've got to push forward and keep trying to improve."

Taylor faces James Wade on Thursday night as he bids to finish in second position in the league table ahead of next week's playoffs.
