Michael van Gerwen has targeted a victory in his clash with Peter Wright in order to put space between himself and the chasing pack in the Darts Premier League table.
The Dutchman, who leads the standings after seven weeks, comes up against an in-form and as of yet undefeated Wright in Dublin tomorrow night.
"It's going to be a really difficult game because Peter is unbeaten in the Premier League and on excellent form," Van Gerwen is quoted as saying by PDC Darts. "Peter is probably the most improved player on the circuit in the last 12 months.
"It's a big game for both of us because the winner will pull clear of the rest and be in a great position to finish in the top four and qualify for the playoffs.
"It's disappointing to have lost one of my matches but I'm top of the table so I couldn't have really asked for much more. The important thing now is I keep it going over the last seven weeks because everyone is going to be desperate to make it through to the playoffs."
Elsewhere, Gary Anderson takes on Wes Newton, while Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld meet in the final match of the night.
