Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld will meet in the second round of the World Grand Prix after both recorded 2-0 victories on Tuesday night.
Van Gerwen averaged over 104 in dismantling three-time world champion John Part, while Van Barneveld was tested by Stuart Kellett before sealing a comfortable success.
Adrian Lewis held his nerve to emerge from a last-leg decider against home favourite Brendan Dolan, with fellow Stoke player Andy Hamilton brushing aside Kim Huybrechts.
There were also wins for Dave Chisnall, Kevin Painter, Justin Pipe and Wayne Jones.
