Peter Wright has won the Players Championship Finals with a thrilling 11-10 victory over Ryan Searle.
Having recorded victories over Michael van Gerwen and Jonny Clayton earlier in the day, Wright was the clear favourite to overcome Searle, who was competing in his first televised final.
However, Searle stuck with the 2020 world champion during the first half of the contest, Wright not seizing control until landing a 141 checkout to move 8-6 ahead.
Wright squandered a chance to extend his lead in the next leg before eventually edging 10-8 in front, but Searle took out 103 to stay in the match.
While a timely double seven from Searle sent the contest into a decider, Wright produced a 15-dart leg to win the title, checking out 62 with Searle having left 24 after 12 darts.
Wright will remain at number two in the world rankings, with Searle moving up to a career-high of 15th spot. body check tags ::
