BDO world number one James Wilson won the inaugural Daily Mirror World Trophy on Sunday evening.

The Huddersfield thrower secured the £30,000 top prize by beating Scotland's Ross Montgomery 13-11 in the final at Blackpool's Tower Ballroom.

Wilson's path through the 32-man field also saw him defeat Richie George, Rick Hofstra, Jeffrey de Graaf and Paul Jennings.

Meanwhile, Montgomery recorded wins over Mike Day, Remco van Eijden, Martin Adams and Gary Robson en route to the final.
