Michael van Gerwen has ended the Premier League group phase at the top of the table after edging out Phil Taylor on the tournament's first visit to the Netherlands.
The world number one only required a draw to finish in first place but he kept his composure in the closing stages to secure a 7-5 victory over his rival.
The two players shared the opening eight legs before a stunning 164 checkout from Van Gerwen gave him the advantage, and although Taylor responded in the following leg, the Dutchman powered through the remaining two games to gain the bragging rights in their 50th meeting.
Adrian Lewis secured his place at next week's playoffs with a dominant 7-2 win over Gary Anderson, with Peter Wright the player to miss out after he could only draw 6-6 with Raymond van Barneveld.
The opening contest of the evening in Rotterdam saw James Wade register a 7-3 success over Robert Thornton.
