Michael van Gerwen has won his third World Grand Prix title with a 5-2 victory over Gary Anderson.
The Dutchman lost a thrilling final with Robert Thornton 12 months ago but he ensured that there would not be disappointment in Dublin for a second successive year with a stunning performance on Saturday night.
Anderson barely got a look-in during the early stages as Van Gerwen ran rampant in taking six of the opening seven legs and he soon extended his advantage to 3-0.
The Scot reduced the deficit in the fourth set but Van Gerwen was still averaging just under 109 and responding to an improved spell from Anderson, who had done well to remain competitive in what was generally a one-sided final.
Van Gerwen moved one set away from victory before Anderson kept his hopes alive in the sixth set but despite taking a leg in the seventh session, he had no answer to the world number one as he came out on top in the battle of the world's two best players.
Anderson will take confidence from reaching his first final of the double-start tournament but he will acknowledge that there is work to do in order to compete with Van Gerwen during a busy part of the PDC calendar.
