Scott Waites has won his second BDO World Championship with a 7-1 victory over Jeff Smith.
The 2013 champion never let up after opening up an early advantage and a 156 checkout in the penultimate leg helped put him in a position to see off the Canadian, who was competing in his first Lakeside final.
The opening set was closely fought but after Waites took it in a deciding leg, Smith's consistent level dropped off and his opponent was able to ease into a 3-0 advantage.
Despite the eventual one-sided scoreline, Smith got on the board on each set, but Waites was ruthless on his doubles, and he took two more close sets to move into a 5-0 lead.
Smith ensured that he avoided the whitewash with a 161 checkout in the sixth set, but Waites took the next two sets - making it five 3-2 sets from seven in the match - to seal victory.
