England trio Daniel Goodfellow, Jordan Houlden and Jack Laugher completed a clean sweep of medals for the home nation in the men's 3m springboard diving competition at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Defending champion Laugher had only just scraped into the final after performing the wrong move in one of his qualification dives - scoring zero in the process.
The 27-year-old dusted himself down for the final after recovering from his earlier nerves and ended up on the podium with his teammates, but he had to accept a bronze with 462.30 points.
Laugher led the way until a disastrous fourth dive in which he over-rotated a four-and-a-half tucked forward somersault, and he could not defend his title despite saving his best for last with a triple-twisting two-and-a-half piked forward somersault.
Goodfellow took the gold medal for England by a massive margin of victory, finishing with 484.45 points, 91.65 of which came in a magnificent triple-twisting two-and-a-half piked forward somersault on his fourth dive.
Goodfellow finished 19.30 points clear of silver medallist Houlden, whose final dive - a four-and-a-half tucked forward somersault - left a lot to be desired as he ceded his place at the top.
Australia's Shixin Li dropped out of the podium spots on the final dive to finish fifth, while James Heatly of Scotland finished fourth for the third time at the Birmingham Games - also missing out on medals in the 3m synchro and 1m springboard. body check tags ::
