Tom Daley insists to Sports Mole that he does not regret entering the Commonwealth Games 10m synchro event late after failing to retain his gold medal.

Silver medallist Tom Daley has insisted that he does not regret not doing more preparation for the Commonwealth Games synchronised 10m platform after failing to defend his gold medal this evening.

Daley only confirmed that he would be aiming to retain his 10m synchro title, alongside James Denny, two days ago.

With only two medals up for grabs as there was just four pairs competing, Daley and Denny looked set to miss out altogether as they went into the final round in last place.

However, they produced a huge score of 95.46 on their last and hardest dive to surge into first. Australia's Domonic Bedggood and Matthew Mitcham then responded with big score of their own that saw them win by just 0.18.

When asked by Sports Mole if he wished that he starting preparing earlier, Daley replied: "If your auntie had balls she'd be your uncle. I've been concentrating on individual, James had been injured.

"He only got his dives back up last week, so it's one of those last-minute decisions that we made to do it and we managed to do it and we're pretty happy with the way that we performed.

"It's agonisingly close, and we know that, but it's one of those things and at the end of the day we're really happy."

Although he couldn't retain his Commonwealth 10m synchro title, Daley has another chance to defend a title when he dives in the individual 10m platform tomorrow.
