Silver medallist James Denny tells Sports Mole that it was "awesome" to finish with a big score after some iffy dives earlier in the Commonwealth 10m synchro final.

James Denny has expressed his delight at winning Commonwealth silver, especially after he produced a near-perfect dive when he needed it most in tonight's synchronised 10m platform final.

Competing alongside Tom Daley, Denny's performance in some of the rounds had dragged the English duo's total down, but he saved his best for last as the duo scored 95.46 with their forward four-and-a-half somersault - the hardest dive of the night.

Although the impressive mark temporarily had them in gold-medal position, Australian duo Matthew Mitcham and Domonic Bedggood responded straight away with a score of 88.56 to snatch gold by just 0.18 points over the six rounds.

"It was awesome to finish on a dive like that, I couldn't have asked for anything better really," Denny told Sports Mole at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh.

"We were stood at the end [of the board] before the last dive and Tom just told me to give it my all, win or lose, just give it our all and we both gave it our all and came out with the highest-scoring dive of the competition."

Both Denny and Daley will be competing in the individual 10m event tomorrow, in which Daley is the defending gold medallist.
