Diver Oliver Dingley says that he is not putting unnecessary pressure on himself to win a medal for England at the Commonwealth Games.

England diver Oliver Dingley has said that he is perfectly capable of winning a Commonwealth medal today, but insisted that he will not pressure himself to do so.

The 21-year-old is gearing up to compete in this morning's 3m springboard preliminaries in a bid to progress to tonight's final.

"I'm really looking forward to competing," he told reporters. "I'm going to focus on making sure I enjoy myself because if I do then I feel that's when I'm at my best.

"If I get a score I'm capable of then a medal could be possible but I'm not thinking about that or putting any extra pressure on myself.

"I just want to dive well and first of all it's about making sure I get through to the final."

Dingley will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Jack Laugher, who claimed gold for England in last night's 1m springboard.
