Team GB's 10m synchro pair James Denny and Matty Lee have settled for a ninth-place finish at the World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia.
The duo improved on their performance in the earlier preliminary round, where they had finished 12th, with a total final score of 396.84.
Gold predictably went the way of China, with Chen Asien and Lin Yue finishing almost 50 points ahead of the chasing pack for a total of 495.72.
Mexico's Ivan Garcia and German Sanchez claimed silver with 448.49, which included a 94.35 for their forward 4-1/2. The battle for the final podium place was a tight affair but eventually went the way of Russia's Roman Izmailov and Victor Minibaev, much to the delight of the home crowd.
Tomorrow's action at the Championships sees Sarah Barrow and Tonia Couch aim for GB's first medal in the women's 10m synchro event.
