Team GB diver Jack Laugher has backed teammate Tom Daley to bounce back from disappointment in the synchronised diving and "smash" the singles 10m event.
Daley and Peter Waterfield came agonisingly close to a medal last week, finishing fourth after a mistake on one of their dives.
However, Daley still has a chance of picking up a home medal in the singles event, the first heat of which takes place tomorrow evening, and Laugher told Sports Mole that he thinks Daley will perform well.
"I think he's going to come back really strong from that, to be honest. I thought it was a little bit disappointing for him to come fourth knowing that he was so close to the medals but he's going to come out really fighting and really strong," said Laugher.
"I think he's going to absolutely smash it, to be honest. The form he's been in this year has been absolutely brilliant so I'd really like him to do well.
"It would erase the thoughts of what everyone's said about him failing, which isn't true. It would be really nice for him to smash it and show everyone what he's made of."
