Divers Jack Laugher and Chris Mears have won Great Britain's first medal of the 16th FINA World Championships in Kazan by claiming bronze in the men's 3m synchro event.
The pair, whose podium place earns them a spot at next year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, scored 445.20 from their six dives to finish behind China (471.45) and Russia (459.18).
The Russian pair of Evgenii Kuznetsov and Ilia Zakharov led after the first and third rounds in front of a buoyant home crowd, but they couldn't stay ahead of Cao Yuan and Qin Kai, finishing in silver-medal position for the second straight Championships.
For both Laugher and Mears, who won Commonwealth gold in the 3m synchro at last year's Games in Glasgow, it is a first medal at the World Championships.
