Team GB diver Jack Laugher has safely progressed through the preliminary round of the men's 3m springboard event in Rio de Janeiro.
The 21-year-old, who won GB's first ever diving gold with synchro partner Chris Mears last week, finished seventh overall in a round that saw 29 competitors trimmed down to 18.
Laugher had impressive scores of 88.40 for his inward 3-1/2 and 86.40 for his back 3-1/2, but was let down by his attempt at a forward 4-1/2, which garnered a disappointing score of 55.10.
Fellow GB diver Freddie Woodward missed out on a spot in the next phase by an agonising margin of 1.75 points, although he will be first reserve for the semi-finals on Tuesday.
Oliver Dingley, Ireland's first Olympic diver in 68 years, made certain of his place in the top 18 with an impressive 78.20 for his final jump, the back 2-1/2 with 1-1/2 twists.
Jamaica's Yona Knight-Wisdom, who trains with Team GB, qualified in 11th place overall with six solid dives, including a best score of 79.20 for his forward 3-1/2.
In the shock of the session, one of the favourites - Chinese diver He Chao - was eliminated from the competition after a disastrous third dive, the forward 3-1/2 with a twist, which scored just 27.75.
He's compatriot Cao Yuan led the way in qualifying with a final tally just shy of 500 points, including a 93.60 for his back 3-1/2 in the fourth round.
Also safely through to the semi-finals were Mexico's Rommel Pacheco, Evgenii Kuznetsov of Russia and German pair Patrick Hausding and Stephan Feck.
