Former Prime Minister Liz Truss has been linked with hosting her own show on GB News.

The MP for South West Norfolk replaced Boris Johnson as PM on September 6 last year - two days before the death of The Queen - but lasted just 49 days in office, resigning after a disastrous "mini-budget" which was met by disapproval from the financial markets.

Since returning to the backbenches, Truss has given a number of keynote speeches around the world warning against "anti-growth" economic policies, and has also been a vocal critic of her successor Rishi Sunak's Windsor Framework deal with the EU.

According to Kevin Maguire writing for The New Statesman, the 47-year-old could be set to launch a media career with a show for the right-leaning broadcaster GB News.

The newspaper says that Truss "set tongues wagging" when she attended a parliamentary event hosted by GB News this week and is now "fancying a presenting gig".

A number of Conservative politicians past and present already host shows for the channel, including Jacob Rees-Mogg, Lee Anderson, Esther McVey, Philip Davies and Michael Portillo.

Other GB News presenters involved with politics include Nigel Farage, Dame Arlene Foster, Laurence Fox and Gloria De Piero. body check tags ::
