Simon McCoy to leave GB News

Simon McCoy to leave GB News
Simon McCoy announces his departure from GB News on the day that Eamonn Holmes joins the broadcaster.

Simon McCoy will leave GB News at the end of the year for "personal reasons", it has been confirmed.

The 60-year-old - formerly of BBC News - joined the new news station when it launched in June, initially anchoring an afternoon show before moving to the weekday breakfast slot.

In a statement confirming McCoy's exit, GB News chief executive Angelos Frangopoulos said: "Simon is an outstanding broadcaster and we're sorry to see him go.

"We remain open to ways we can work with him in future."

News of McCoy's departure comes hours after Eamonn Holmes was announced to be joining the channel in the new year.

The former Sky News and GMTV presenter will take over from McCoy on the weekday breakfast show from January 3.
