Sky announces the launch of Sky Kids, an ad-free, 24-hour linear TV channel.

Sky has announced the launch of Sky Kids, an ad-free, 24-hour linear TV channel.

The brand is currently an on-demand offering only but will become a fully-fledged station in February 2023 as Sky looks to capitalise on the BBC's future plans to make the CBBC channel online-only.

Sky Kids will be aimed at children aged 1-7 with shows such as Trolls: TrollsTopia, Clifford The Big Red Dog and Morph as well as a new programme from former kids presenter Fearne Cotton called My Friend Misty.

"We're so excited to announce the launch of our brand-new linear channel," said Sky Kids director Lucy Murphy.

"Millions of our customers already love watching our huge range of Original shows on-demand but families with younger kids have told us that watching on linear channels is an important part of their day; so, we've listened and expanded our Sky Kids offering at no extra cost.

"The new channel will have a whole breadth of brand new and much-loved shows for kids and families to enjoy and we can't wait to reveal the full fantastic lineup of shows."

Sky Kids will be available to Sky customers with the Sky Kids package, as well as NOW Entertainment subscribers.
