Sky Sports is supposedly contemplating a bid to bring the Saudi Pro League to UK screens this season.

Sky Sports is reportedly considering a bid for the UK broadcast rights to the Saudi Pro League.

The league has made a huge splash in the global transfer market this year, first signing up Cristiano Ronaldo in January then adding a host of other top stars this summer with the lure of phenomenal wages.

Ronaldo is said to be earning £173m a year, with Karim Benzema on a similar amount. N'Golo Kante is pocketing £86m a year, while Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been tempted to the Gulf State with a salary of £36m, or almost £700,000 a week.

As a result, interest in the Saudi Pro League is expected to rocket this year, and Sky is thought to be weighing up making an offer for the broadcast rights ahead of the new season starting next Friday, August 11.

The rights would not require a huge bid to acquire as the league is instead more keen to drive awareness of its teams and players as part of a longer-term strategy.

An announcement on the league's UK rights is expected early next week in what is likely to be a two-season deal.
