Former Coronation Street star Charles Lawson - aka Jim McDonald - reveals that he is enjoying watching old episodes of the soap on ITV3.

Former Coronation Street star Charles Lawson has revealed that he has been reminiscing about his time on the show by watching classic episodes on ITV3.

The 61-year-old played the iconic Jim McDonald - husband of Liz (Beverley Callard) - for multiple stints between 1989 and 2011, returning briefly in 2014 and 2018.

ITV3 repeats two old episodes of Corrie every weekday and has just reached 1998 - a point at which Jim had split from Liz and was suffering a rapidly deteriorating relationship with his son Steve (Simon Gregson).

"It was party, party, party!" Lawson recalled to the Daily Star.

"My friendships with Bev, Simon, Sarah Lancashire (Raquel), Eva Pope (Tanya) and Peter Armitage (Bill Webster) – they are my fondest memories.

"I'm really enjoying classic Corrie at the minute."

Lawson has previously suggested that he would be open to return to the show, although that scenario is now up in the air following Callard's decision to quit for good.
