Oliver Farnworth has joined the cast of Emmerdale playing a member of the iconic Sugden family.
The 41-year-old - married to soap legend Samantha Womack - is best known for his stint on Coronation Street playing Andy Carver, who was murdered by evil Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre).
Farnworth previously had a spell on Hollyoaks as stalker Will Hackett in 2006 and 2007.
On Emmerdale he will play John Sugden, a "brooding and mysterious" character who arrives in the village and connects with the only remaining member of the iconic Sugden family, Victoria (Isabel Hodgins).
John will also "catch the eye of an unsuspecting resident" and "become deeply entwined with the rich history of the Sugden family".
"We are thrilled to have an actor with Oliver's talent and presence join the Emmerdale family," said producer Laura Shaw. "The Sugdens have always been central to Emmerdale, and introducing a new member opens up exciting possibilities for future storylines.
"Mysterious John's arrival will no doubt create a stir in the village for Victoria and the wider community."
Farnworth added: "I am absolutely delighted to be joining the cast of Emmerdale. The show has such a rich history, and the Sugden family is integral to that.
"I'm looking forward to bringing my character to life and working with such a talented and dedicated team."
John will first appear on screen in August.
