Sally Dexter is to return as Faith Dingle as part of an upcoming storyline on Emmerdale, it has been announced.

Faith left the Dales more than a year ago after admitting that she was responsible for Nate's mum leaving - leading the family to shun her and drive her out of the village.

In an upcoming episode, Moira (Natalie J Robb) will bump into Faith, who is dressed as an undertaker while attempting to steal a hearse in an encounter which prompts her return.

"It's wonderful to be back in Emmerdale again," said Dexter. "From the first day, I felt like I was getting a big warm family hug from everyone, it's a really special show!"

Emmerdale story producer Sophie Roper added: "I'm delighted to see the return of much-loved character Faith Dingle to the village.

"A character bursting with fun, Faith's certainly set to ruffle a few feathers and will test the Dingle's loyalties like never before.

"We're absolutely thrilled to welcome Sally back to Emmerdale, an actor exuding vibrant charm."
