Louise Jameson signs a new deal to stay with Emmerdale as Mary Goskirk for another year.

Louise Jameson has revealed that she has signed a new one-year deal to remain on Emmerdale.

The former Doctor Who star, 71, made her debut in the Dales last year as Mary, the mother of Rhona (Zoe Henry), and quickly became a fan favourite.

Jameson told The Sun: "I've just signed for another year.

"So I'm definitely there until January 2024. In my head I'm thinking maybe a couple of years after that, maybe a three or four year stint.

"But there are people here who have been here 25 years going, 'Yeah, I said that at the beginning.' But who knows? They're such a lovely bunch, who knows?"

Emmerdale continues weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1.
