Kate Garraway returns to Good Morning Britain for the first time since her husband Derek Draper was hospitalised due to coronavirus.

Kate Garraway has returned to the Good Morning Britain studio for the first time since her husband Derek Draper was admitted to hospital with coronavirus.

Draper, 52, was taken into intensive care 100 days ago after contracting the killer disease and has defied the odds to remain alive - although he has suffered serious internal damage and faces a long road to recovery.

Earlier this week Garraway revealed that he is now in "a minimal state of consciousness" and has begun to open his eyes, and she provided a fresh update in an interview with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Wednesday morning.

"We have no real knowledge of what he can see and hear and feel," she revealed. "It is a very desperate situation. Of course there's fantastic hope that he's still alive. The doctors keep saying it's a miracle that he's still alive.

"Six times they said he's not going to make it, so he has been very very sick. The problem is it's a new disease - there's no data.

"His lungs are starting to recover, his liver's doing better, his kidneys are doing better - but we don't know how much better yet."

Garraway went on to reveal that one of Draper's doctors had told her that he was the "most ill person" he had ever seen in his 35-year medical career.
